WHY I want to be a teacher

I want to be a teacher because I know the difference that my teachers had on me, and I want to do the same. I have so many small cousins that I have always been great with and it seemed like the best thing for my future.

WHY I want to be a special educator.

In High School I took a class called LINKS. This class was a peer to peer class where I got to spend an hour each day with a student with a disability. I made so many great connections, learned so much, and valued my time with peers. This class changed my life. After taking it, I did multiple research projects on individuals with disabilities and always wanted to know more. Additionally, I ran a fundraiser to benefit individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder and it was so rewarding I knew I needed to continue my education on this topic.

WHY I believe it is the best career choice for me

This is the best career choice for me because I know it will make me the happiest and that is most important to me. I think I can truly make a difference in the world if I follow this career path. I know so many students dread going to school each day, so I want to make my students get excited for school and ambitious to learn more.

WHY the career aligns well with my qualities, characteristics, and core values.

Because I love to spend time with others, especially children, I am social and patient, and because I believe in kindness and compassion are just a few reasons I believe this careers aligns well with what I think is most important. I am genuine, authentic, and believe that there is beauty in uniqueness. I think these are all extremely important qualities of anyone wanting to pursue special education.
